Slips and Trips: A Global Outlook
Causes of slips and trips at work and how they can be prevented.
Description
Slips, trips and falls account for nearly a third of non-fatal work-related accidents. They are one of the most common (and most preventable) causes of injuries in the workplace. While few of these result in fatalities, that is not to say that slips and trips shouldn't be taken seriously, or that they cannot cause permanent damage to your workforce and organisation. It is the responsibility of the employer to ensure that staff members are provided with a safe environment to work in, and to undertake regular risk assessments and offer training to this effect. Employees that do not offer this protection face legal action, not to mention the damage a serious slip, trip or fall could cause to the organisation's morale and reputation at large.
