Tax Evasion: Failure to Prevent (Law)
This course will teach you what tax evasion is, the related offences, what to look out for and how to ensure protection from liability.
Description
Tax evasion is a crime. Facilitating tax evasion is a crime. A law firm failing to prevent its staff or contractors from facilitating tax evasion is also a crime. The Criminal Finances Act 2017 introduced new offences that could result in serious penalties for any law firm failing to comply. The actions of a law firm could, either directly or through a supplier or third party, facilitate tax evasion. If a law firm facilitates tax evasion, the client could be charged with an offence, the lawyer could be prosecuted individually and the law firm can be held criminally liable. This course will teach you what tax evasion is, the related offences, what to look out for and how to ensure protection from liability. Preventing tax evasion is everyone's responsibility.
